Artist Statement
As an abstract artist, I try to capture the spontaneity and flow often seen and felt in nature, attempting to capture the intangible through, colour, form and texture within my work. This desire to be grounded into the land but reaching for dreamscapes means my work is often built in multiple layers using mixed media such as acrylic, watercolour, ink, as well as, working in digital illustration. Sometimes paintings start with sketches or photography on location or created from the imagined on a variety of substrates from my small home studio. Each piece can be explored in infinite ways, but the intention is always the same – to seek joy in the everyday.
Artist Bio
Mira Caie Artist (pron Meera Kai) is a visual artist & illustrator based in Fife, Scotland. Even as child her fascination with creating things with her hands and her curiosity with how things break apart and become whole again continues to this day. A life long love of travel, colour and texture means that her paintings often explore the local landscape whether its the beautiful east neuk coastal light or the unexpected tangled objects washed up on shore or the jewel-like rock pools embedded in the rugged coastline.
Having lived in multiple cities and now residing in the Kingdom of Fife where she draws much inspiration from local landscape, inspired by everything from a raging storm to the ebb and flow of the coast, to the fleeting dance of sunlight steaming through trees, all of which contributes to her deep fascination with the cyclical changes & patterns found in nature.
