What a lovely day was had at the Plant Power Day, hosted in the Dundee Botanical Gardens at the weekend.
I had the pleasure of joining the celebration and bustle of planned activities – bringing along a rainbow of inks made entirely from plants, and sharing my love of creating with Natural dyes.
Children and adults were invited to come and paint on fabric using the plant inks to make their own flag and take home. It wasn’t long before the marquee was full of colourfully painted pieces of fabric, fluttering in the sunshine.
It was fantastic to find people were so curious about the process—how pink ink could come from an avocado or yellow from a purple flower. Many left feeling excited and with plans of their own to embrace the colours and creativity that can be found at the foot of their garden and in the local wilds!
